In 1474. Tisno was for the first time mentioned in the history, it was named after the narrow passage that separates the island Murter from the mainland.

The fortress from the 15 ct., the parish church of "St. Duh" from the 16 ct. and the famous holy place of "St. Gospe od Karavaja" placed on the hill above, characterise the religious side of the place. Since ancient times people do a lot of agriculture (wine and olives), fishing and recently tourism.

Fast development of tourism was caused by the closeness of two national parks - National park "Krka waterfalls", famous because of the gorgeous "Skradin buk" waterfalls and pearl of Croatian Adriatic, National park "Kornati islands", the archipelago stretched in front of the island Murter.
